WILLIAM ALBERT PATE

Funeral for Albert Pate, 82, of 1401 Douglass Road, Nacodgoches, Texas was held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Cason Monk Chapel with interment in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas.

Officiating were the Rev. Floyd Lawson, retired Baptist minister, and Dr. Lionel Crowell, pastor of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Pate died Sunday.

Born May 25, 1895, in Nacogdoches County, Mr. Pate had lived in Nacogdoches since 1966. He was the son of John Daniel and Modenia Peace Pate, a retired carpenter, and a member of the Nacogdoches Missionary Baptist Church. He was Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years at Pleasant Grove Church, a deacon for 47 years, and a Sunday School teacher for several years.

Mr. Pate and Bert Cox were married March 7, 1928, and she survives him.

Also, surviving are a son, L.D. Pate of Nacogdoches; two daughters, Mrs. Loretta McCarty of Nacogdoches and Mrs. Dena Murphy of McAllen; seven brothers, Alvin Pate of Center, Aubrey Pate of Gladewater, and Otis Pate, Vernice Pate, Artis Pate, Bevie Pate, and Rushing Pate, all of Ringgold, La.; a sister, Mrs. O.D. Wilson of Ringgold; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Peggy Holland gave the music.

Pallbearers were Thurman McCarty, Harold Pate, Lynn Murphy, Mike Murphy, Larry Standridge, and Roger Davis.

Note: The first marriage of William Albert's was to Ima Powers from Shelby County, Texas. From this union were the following: Lonnie Daniel, Loretta, Ladenia and William Elbert. Ima died in 1926 in Oakville, Texas and is buried there.

After Ima's death, William Albert returned to Shelby County, Texas to live with his parents. His fourth child William Elbert died.

William Albert married Bert Cox, March 7, 1928 in Texas. They had only one child, Billy Joe Pate who died May 10, 1950. Bert was a wonderful mother to all the children and was loved by all who knew her.
