Thief River Falls- Theodore "Ted" W. Booth, 81, died Sunday, November 16, 1997 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Galen Sylvester officiating. Joyce Halbasch will be the organist. The soloist will be Jan Nordin. Casketbearers will be John Thorstad, Phil Torgerson, Alan Johnson, Mel Olson, George Olson and Roland Fellows. Honorary casketbearers will be Ted's friends and fellow members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Green Funeral Home in Theif River Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.

Theodore William Booth was born on October 11, 1916 in Bemidji to Roy William and Inez G. (Pemble) Booth. He attended elementary school in Tenstrike and graduated from Blackduck High School with honors in 1934. Following high school Ted attended an electrical and radio trade school in Chicago, IL. In January of 1935 he returned to Blackduck to operate a radio repair business. He also helped his parents with trucking, school bus driving and their cafe business.

He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and served from June 1936 until May 1937. In February 1941 Ted enlisted in the United States Army Air Force. He attained the rank of technical sergeant specializing in aircraft radio maintenance. He was later chief technical operator of the base radio station at Pueblo, CO. Ted was honorably discharged from service in December of 1945. He returned to Minnesota to continue his education at Bemidji State College from 1947 to l948. He also attended the University of Minnesota for one year.

On June 6, 1950 Ted was united in marriage to Shirley Maxine Olson at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby. The couple lived in Tenstrike until moving to Thief River Falls in 1951. Ted was employed as a radio and television repairman by Larson Music for two years and then started Ted's Radio and TV Service which he continued to own and operate until his retirement in 1984.

He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the church council as well as other committees. Ted also visited shut-ins and delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, restoring old radios, gardening and picking wild berries&endash;especially blueberries.

Ted is survived by his wife Shirley of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Brenda of Rochester; four sons, Donald of Fargo, ND, Douglas (Julie) of Andalusia, AL, Dennis (Sherry) of Elk River and Dean of Pembina, ND; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Enid "Sunny" (Daniel) Moore of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Roger; one brother, Guy; two sisters, Arlene Winch and Zona Grave; one niece and one nephew.
