Mrs. Elva Shove Guillotte passed away on March 4, 2004, at her home in Ocean Springs. She was born June 22, 1911, in Pass Christian, MS. At an early age the family moved to Biloxi where she was educated in the Biloxi Public Schools. Mrs. Guillotte was confirmed in the First Evangelical Church of Biloxi and remained a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith.
In April 1934, she married Horace R. Guillotte of Biloxi and moved to New York City. During Mr. Guillotte's career with CBS, they resided in New York City and Studio City, CA. Upon her husband's retirement, they returned to the Gulf Coast and built their home in Ocean Springs where she soon developed a vast collection of plants and flowers. She frequently took awards at Garden Club events. In addition, she was an avid bridge player, belonging to several clubs. An excellent cook and hostess, Mrs. Guillotte generously gave of her talents to family and friends alike.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marius B. and Minnie E. Shove, four brothers, Elvas V. Shove, Arno C. Shove, Milo Shove, and Iver E. Shove, two sisters, Nola Gustafson Shove and Irene Shove, and one niece, JoAnne Shove Hall.
Mrs. Guillotte is survived by her husband of 69 years, Horace R. Guillotte of Ocean Springs, MS., one daughter, Carolyn Guillotte Mittrick and her husband, John, of Ocean Springs, MS., one brother, Elmo B. Shove of Kingsland, TX., one sister, Esther Shove Harder of Jackson, MS., two grandsons, Scott Praiss and wife, Patricia, of Biloxi, MS., Glenn Praiss of Hemet, CA., one granddaughter, Donna Praiss Riley and husband, Jason, of Biloxi, MS., great-grandchildren, Randy S. Riley and Sabrina L. Riley, four nieces and three nephews. On Saturday, March 6, 2004, there will be a 2 PM chapel service, Ocean Springs Chapel, Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, where friends may call from 1-2 PM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
