Dorothy was born in Lorena, Texas, to the late Thomas and Merle Copeland. She grew up in Lorena and Mullen, Texas, and graduated salutatorian from Mullen High School in 1942. She worked for the United Way for 21 years as the Associate Executive Director. Dorothy was a member of Richfield Christian Church in Waco, a 38-year member of the American Business Women's Association, the Lorena Eastern Star and the Lorena Cemetery Association.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Driskell and Bob Behringer; daughter, Virginia Swanson; grandddaughter, Lauren Kincer; and sisters, Catherine Copeland and Tommie Sue Boykin.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Kincer and husband, Steve, of Waco, and Nancy Rich and husband, Scot, of Corpus Christi; son-in-law, John J. Swanson, of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Margaret Ann Swanson-Abendschien, Suzan Swanson, Melissa Linendoll, Jennifer Querrey, and Jeffrey Atwell; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Mirick, of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
