Joseph Charchenko, 87, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in the Heritage Manor in Chisholm.

A graveside service is planned for 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 23 in Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

He was born February 23, 1915, in Killdeer, North Dakota, the son of John and Kathryn Charchenko. He attended school in Killdeer. Joseph later moved to the Crookston area where he was a farmer and cement mason.

Joseph was a member of the VFW post #8510 in Hibbing, and attended the First Baptist Church in Hibbing.

He is survived by his son, Joel (Caroline) Charchenko of Stillwater, grandsons, Brad (Michelle) of Apple Valley and Brian (Paula) of Eden Prairie, great grandchildren, Nikolai, Alex, and Anna, one brother William of Westminister, California, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen in 2001, three sisters and four brothers.
