Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Ben Echols
Funeral services were held Wednesday Dec. 14 at the Leagueville Baptist Church for Benjamin F. Echols, 83, who died at his home at Smithland after a long illness.
The Rev. Aubrey Briggs of Brownsboro conducted the services and burial was in the Leagueville Cemetery.
Mr. Echols, a retired farmer, was born and reared in the Leagueville community and lived there until 20 years ago, when he moved to Smithland. He was a member of the Leagueville Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Roy W. Echols of Cotton Valley, Louisiana; three daughters, Mrs. G. W. Coursey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. G. W. McBride of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Mrs. Jack Crunk of Karnack, Texas, and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was an uncle of Gene Tindel of Athens.
