Funeral services for Mrs. S. F. Tindel,81, who died Sunday night after a lengthy illness, were held Monday afternoon at 8 o'clock at the Leagueville Baptist Church. The services were conducted by Rev. Lott of Tyler, pastor of the Missionary Baptist Church at Leagueville, and the song service was conducted by C.O. Jackson of Tyler.
Burial was in the New York Cemetery.
Pallbearers were W.T. Crossley, Horton Townley, Marvin Lanier, R.T. Driver, A.E. Ledbetter and William Garrett.
Born on May 18, 1866, near Monroe, Louisiana, she was the former Miss Gertrude Echols, daughter of Richard Bailey Echols and Mary Watson Echols.
She came to Texas with her parents when she was four years of age, and has been a resident of Henderson county since that time. Her parents settled at Leagueville.
She was married to Seaborn Fagan Tindel on January 23, 1890.
She was a member of the Leagueville Baptist Church.
Affectionally known as "Aunt Pink" by her many friends, she took an active part in the Sacred Harp Singing Conventions.
Surviving are her five children, Mrs. W. J. Howeth, Mrs. Dennis Sholars and S.C. Tindel all of New York; Mrs. Jess A. Holley of Hawkins and P.E. Tindel of mAthens; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two brothers; Ben F. Echols and Robert Echols of Jefferson.
