Phillip William (PW) Lewis was born in Sebastian County, Arkansas to William J. Lewis and Canzada Abernathy Lewis. PW was one of 10 children. He married Martha Ann Shedd, daughter of Thompson Shedd and Nancy Elizabeth Vandervier. Together PW and Martha had ten children, all of whom lived over 70 years, with six reaching 90+ and one living over 100 years. PW owned and ran saw mills and grist mills in and around Polk County, but for most of his life he owned or shared farms in that area. He and his wife owned and lived in a house in Board Camp for over 40 years. The ten children were: Maude Mae Lewis McMillan, Luther Erastus Lewis, Pearl J. Lewis Conn Smith, Viola Melvina Lewis Thornton, Alma Audrey Lewis Dorough, Henry Carl Lewis, Mary Edna Lewis Meuser, Ida Myrtle Lewis Craig, Frederick James Lewis, and Sylvia Lorena Lewis Boatright.
