Dallas E. Holland, Oil Field Worker,
Dies of Heart Attack


Dallas E. Holland, 56, Davis oil field worker, died early Wednesday morning at a rig where he was working, about half way between County Line and Elmore City.

Mr. Holland was in the employ of Fleet Drilling Co. of Ada. Shortly after midnight he was found unconscious on the floor of the rig by a fellow workman. He was rushed to Wynnewood hospital and died on the way. His unconscious condition when found was first believed to have been caused by an accident but later was declared due to a heart attack. He died on his birthday.

For 25 or 30 years, Mr. Holland had engaged in oil field work, and had worked in the vicinity of Davis the past six or seven years. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, the former Virginia Chaudoin, daughter of Judge and Mrs. L. E. Chaudoin of this city; a stepson, Randell Ellis Peak; one brother, Boyd Holland, Bienville, La.; four sisters, Mrs. Nona Loe, Mrs. Georgia Woods and Mrs. Era Collingsworth, all of Bienville, La., and Mrs. Lucille Griggs, Baton Rouge, La. The sisters arrived last night and the brother is expected today to attend the funeral.

Services will be held at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Herschel W. Hall. Interment in Green Hill cemetery under direction of Bahner Funeral Home. Military rites will be give at the grave by the American Legion.
