On the 4th of March, 1862, at Camp Davis, Gideon Alfred ARNSDORFF enlisted as a private in Company I of the 11th Battalion of the Volunteer Georgia Infantry. His unit, the Empire State Guards, was reorganized as Company I of the 47th Regiment on the 12th of May, 1862. He was wounded at the Battle of Chicamauga on the 19th of September, 1863. He died of wounds on the 22nd of November, 1863, at Academy Hospital at Marietta, Georgia.
