Born in Laurens County she was a daughter of the late Thomas George Abrams and Grace Simmons Abrams. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from Wal-Mart Distribution Center of Laurens.
She was twice married, first to the late William Maxwell Pitts and then to Roy Hammond of the home. Other survivors include two sons; William Marcus Pitts and wife, Jean of Laurens, Richard Alan Pitts and wife, Sonna of Laurens, Grandson; Niles Maxwell Pitts, granddaughters; Abby Jean Pitts, Anna Katherine Pitts and Claudia Bett Pitts.
She was predeceased by son; Twyman Carroll Pitts, daughter; Lisa Amanda Pitts, sister; Martha Sue Cox, and brothers; George, J.P, Benjamin and Robert Abrams.
