Helen Vopatek, age 83, resident of Brainerd, died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Helen was born on June 1, 1924, in Montgomery, Minn., to Jake and Anna (Kloekner) Dirks.
Survivors include her son, Ken and daughter-in-law, Lori Vopatek, of Brainerd; five grandchildren, Jim Vopatek, Terri Bulanek, Tracy Vopatek, Mark Vopatek and Dan Vopatek; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn Bulanek and Claire Bulanek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1998; and brothers, Arthur, Harry, John, Julius and Walter.
Services will be held 3 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with the Rev. Harvey Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday and the hour before services at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd on Monday.
