POWDER SPRINGS, GA. - There will be services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Aaron Broome, Sr., 83, formerly of Youngstown, who departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Mr. Broome was born Oct. 10, 1922 in LaGrange, Ga., a son of John and Georgia Davis Broome.

He was employed at Valley Mould and Iron for 32 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a former member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He enjoyed working on cars and gardening and was an WWII Army veteran.

On Oct. 26, 1943, Aaron married the former Christernella McCord, and to this union, four children were born. Christernella passed away March 3, 2002.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, JoAnn Scissum of Hiram, Ga., and Michele Broome of Liberty; two sons, Dennis (Carolyn) Broome of Power Springs, with whom he made his home, and Aaron Broome, Jr. of Jonesboro, Ga.; two grandchildren, Tony Ray Scissum of Liberty and Marcus Scissum of Hiram; a brother, Joe Broome of Rome, Ga.; two sisters, Ruth Ogletree and Sallie Mitchell, both of Columbus, Ga.; a goddaughter, Lisa Black of Cleveland; and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John Broome Jr., Jimmy Broome and Wilmer Jackson; and a sister, Hillary Vinson.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home
