Julia Dale Covington Nevels, 65, a lifelong resident of Walker, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Promise Hospital of Baton Rouge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Monday, Sept. 21, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial in Vickers Cemetery, Walker. Survived by her husband, Alton David Nevels Sr.; son, David Nevels Jr. and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Whitney, Julie and Kyle Nevels; great-granddaughter, Ilana Mae-Leigh Rushing; and brothers, Kerry Lane and Sidney B. Covington Jr. Preceded in death by parents, Sidney B. Covington Sr. and Audrey Bendily Covington; 2 sisters, Beverly Jean Covington and Judy Carolyn Covington and an infant brother (not named). The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond, for the care and love shown to Julia during this time.
