Mrs. Hattie Whitmore Smale, 89, and one of Loudoun County's oldest citizens, died Monday at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Smale, in Purcellville. She was the widow of John Smale and had spent most of her life in Leesburg
She is survived by one son, F.W. Smale, Washington.
Funeral services were held from the Leesburg Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, on Tuesday morning with burial in the Leesburg Cemetery.
