An email to me from Pete Peterson
. The information I have on families of Madison Vandivier came from pg 822 of Branigan's History of Johnson Co, Indiana, 1913.
. This book gives Madison's wife, Mildred Admire Vandivier, a DoB of 13 Jul 1813 and a DoD of 10 Mar 1854. However, her gravestone clearly shows DoD of 20 Mar 1854, Aged 40 yrs, 8 mos, 2 dys. So we use 18 Jul 1813 for her DoB and 20 Mar 1854 for her DoD."
Doni's note back to Pete, dtd 18 Mar 04: On the date of birth, I, too, use the tombstone references, except lately, I've more inclined to believe the celebratory date, and leave the yrs, mos, & dys to miscalculations on their part – I mean it was the 1800s they didn't have calculators back then.
