ELYRIAN DECORATED BY PRESIDENT WILSON DIES

Mrs. Anna Alexander, 58, of 353 High Street, who won national recognition for Red Cross work during World War, died at the Elyria Memorial Hospital at 9:05 a.m. today after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Alexander was personally honored and decorated by President Woodrow Wilson on May 19, 1918, in recognition of her work as head instructor for 350 Red Cross nurses during the World War.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Germany on March 3, 1866. She lived in Lorain for several years before coming to Elyria, which has been her home for the past eight years.

She was a member of the Second Congregational church and of the Woodmen Circle.

She is survived by her husband William Alexander; a son, Arthur of Elyria, and one grandson. Other near surviving relatives are a brother, Edwards Rossman, and a half-brother, Charles Rossman, both of Milvale, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Rev. C.F. Wiseman, pastor of the Second Congregation church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

The body is now at the Nichols Funeral Home, where friends may call.
