Came from Holland with his parents and siblings and settled in Chicago in 1869. His Father and oldest brother worked in the Mason trade. Right after the Chicago fire brother Gerardus came to Jewell County and took a homestead next to the Dispatch store. In the fall of 1871 the rest of the family moved to Dispatch, Ks. They did farming and his Father also applied for a timber filing planting 10 acres of timber. His father injured his leg in an accident while harvesting with a reaper. He lived three weeks after the accident, passing away August 7, 1877. His Mother Marghien passed away from pneumonia December 8, 1878. At one time I believe Antone owned, with his brother Harry, the store in Dispatch where Antone was postmaster.
