Gordon Caraway was a son of Arthur and Frances Elizabeth "Fannie" Power Caraway. He was born in the Macedonia community near Madison in Madison Co., FL. His nephew, Robert Earl Caraway (a son of Rufus C. and Shelley Lee Pridgeon Caraway)told me that before the war, Gordon and Rufus Caraway worked at the butcher pens. Earl said he watched them work and they would have to knock the cows in the head and then jump on them and tackle them to the ground to complete the slaughter of the animal.
Gordon served his country during World War I. He was a Wagoner in Company A, 106th Engineers.
