A brief note was included in Vol. LI No. 47 issue of the local Madison newspaper a few days after Lura's death. This is the text of that piece:
Death of Mrs. King
The many friends of Mrs. John King were made sad Friday afternoon about one-thirty when they learned of her death. Mrs. King had been confined to her room for about four years. All that loving hands could do was done to try to make her comfortable. She was laid to rest Sunday afternoon in the Macedonia cemetery.
