Phoebe was born in 1813 in Newport, Campbell Co., KY , the daughter of William & Elizabeth White DeWitt. She united in marriage at age 18,with John Andrew Irby (1810-1839) 20 Dec 1831 in Cotton Twp., Switzerland Co., IN. To this union were born three sons: Charles W. Irby (1834-1864), Silas Wilson Irby (1838-1920), & John M. Irby (1840-1871). All three fought in the civil War. The youngest son was born after the father died.
Phoebe was 11 years a widow before she met and soon married Ignatius Sollars Jr (1807-1889)on the 1 Mar 1842 in Eugene, Vermillion Co., IN some distance from Switzerland Co., IN to the northeast on the Indiana/Illinois state-line. To this union were born seven children: Susan (1843-1844), Elizabeth (1844-1916), James Maurice "Morris"(1845-1930), Simeon Jackson "Jack"(1849-1933), Edward King (1852-1915), Martha Margaret 1856-1917), & James Riley (1860-1932).
Phoebe lost her husband Ignatius in c1889. The were living in Elwood Twp., Vermilion Co., IL, near the state-line, at the time. Burial is believed to have been just over the north fence line of the old Eugene Cemetery. No marker present (this area became the newer section of the cemetery).

PHOEBE DEWITT IRBY SOLLARS DIES
Phoebe DeWitt Irby Sollars, a widow, died. Sunday, 14 September 1890, in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana at age 76. The cause of death was attributed to "Nervous Prostration" for one year and old age. The informant on her death certificate was J. A. Walters of Terre Haute, Ind. Even though her burial place was not mentioned, she was laid to rest beside her husband, Ignatius Sollars, Jr., in Eugene Cemetery, Eugene, Vermillion County, Indiana. No marker exists for either of them.
