R. Emmett Stirling, 69, of Hudson, died Friday of a heart attack.
Mr. Stirling was born Oct. 13, 1872 in Grundy county to Robert and Ellen Stirling. On Sept. 18, 1895 he married Rosina F. Stowe ,of Grundy county, at New Hartford. They farmed near New Hartford until 1908. For the last 34 years the Stirlings farmed the Mrs. Isabel Watters farm a half mile southwest of Hudson. He was a member of the United Brethren church and of the Odd Fellows lodge for the last 35 years.
He leaves a daughter, Ruth Rohwer, and a grandson, Parkersburg; a brother, Ira Stirling, Readlyn, Saskatchewan, Can.; four sisters, Lettie Finlayson, Buffalo Center; Charlotte Belt, Alberta, Can.; Zella Stowe, Waterloo; L'Belle Stirling, San Francisco, Cal.
Mrs. Stirling preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1941, following a major operation.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the home and at 2 p.m. at the United Brethren church. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery at Cedar Falls.
