DEATH CLAIMS JOHN H. BLACK
Funeral services for John Henry Black, 63, were held Wednesday, April 19, at the First Christian church. Black died Monday at St. Anthony hospital, Oklahoma City, Monday, April 17. He had been released from the hospital earlier that morning and was in the Oklahoma City bus station preparing to return home when he was stricken.
A resident of Davis since 1907, the family came here from Summerville, Tex. He was a retired butcher, and made his home with a sister, Miss Bertie Black.
Rev. Overton Turner and Rev. Jay Irby officiated at the services Interment was at Green Hill cemetery under the direction of Bahner Funeral home.
Pallbearers were Harold Oakley, D. C. Farr, Bobbie Riddle, Doyle Dalley, Arlie Wallace, and Odell Orr. Honorary pallbearers were Price Hunt, George Pierce, Sherman Young, Hubert Oakley, J. T. Bailey, Tom Young, and Grover Mulkey.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Rachel Christy, Miss Bertie Black, Mrs. Otis Gibson, and Mrs. Hugh Faulkner, all of Davis; three brothers, N. W. Black, W. E. Black, both of Davis, and George Black of Healdton; 12 nieces and nephews, 34 great nieces and nephews, and eight great great nieces and nephews.
