Mr. J. A. Christy (sic) of Stonewall, and Miss Rachael Black of near Davis, drove to the Presbyterian manse Christmas morning where Rev. R. W. Oakes spoke the words that mad them husband and wife. They left immediately for their new home near Stonewall, where the young husband is a farmer. We wish them health and happiness.

(The news article was mistaken about Mr. Christy's name; his name was Burrel Homer Christy.)

Pioneer Resident, Mrs. Christy, 86, Services Are Held

Funeral services for a pioneer resident of Davis, Mrs. Rachel Christy, 86, were held Monday, April 24 at Bahner-Fox Chapel. Mrs. Christy died April 21 at Pauls Valley General hospital.

Finis Steelman of First Baptist church and Chuck Nordeen of First United Methodist church officiated. Interment was in Green Hill cemetery with arrangements by Bahner-Fox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Bobbie Riddle, Tommy Black, Boo Broaddrick, Morris Morton, Lyle George and Harold Oakley.

Mrs. Christy was born June 13, 1891, at La Grange, Tex. She moved to Davis with her family in 1907 and lived here the rest of her life.

Survivors include two sons, Leon of Davis, and Burl of Ft. Smith, Ark.; three sisters and two brothers, Miss Birdie Black, Mrs. Martha Faulkner, Mrs. Myrtle Gibson, George Black, and N. W. Black, all of Davis; 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Burl, preceded her in death in 1918. Three daughters also preceded her in death, Permelia Melton in 1949, Mary Burnett in 1971 and LaHoma Sales in 1972.
