Mass Offering for John P. Kelly
Requiem mass was offered Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for John P. Kelly, longtime El Reno resident and retired Rock Island engineer of 107 North Hoff, who died Sunday in an El Reno hospital following a short illness. Mr. Kelly was born Feb. 21, 1877, in Edina, Mo., and came to El Reno in 1908 from Chickasaw. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He had 52 years service with Rock Island.
Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Benson Funeral Home chapel with Father Emil Depreitere officiating. Survivors include the wife, Pauline of the home; five sons, Edward G., James J., John W. and Richard C., all of Oklahoma City, and Robert T. of Birmingham, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hendrix of Honshu, Japan; a brother, J.R. Kelly of Clarinda, Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Christensen of Council Bluff, Iowa. Burial was in the El Reno Catholic cemetery under supervision of Bensons.
