Archibald Duncan MacDougall immigrated from Ireland with his parents Samuel MacDougall and Margaret Ruth Ferguson along with his four brothers, Samuel, Ewen, John & Allen. He married Louisa Ladner and together they had 13 children.
Archibald was born in Morvern/Morven Scotland. Perhaps he embarked to Canada via Ireland but he was definitely not born in Ireland. This is his and his father's recommendation for emigration:
"Written June 11, 1810 by Norman MacLeod, Minister of Morven Manse, Scotland.
Certificates to Samuel and Archibald MacDougall from Morven Manse.
"The bearer Archd McDugald is a young man of unblemished character and was
always well thought of - some years ago he was chosen one of the public
teachers of this parish - in which capacity he behaved himself much to the
satisfaction of his minister and his employers - he may be considered as a
young man worthy of encouragement and attention - and received as a useful
member into any Christian Community where providence may direct his lot.
Given and attested at Morven Manse this 11th June 1810 by Norman MacLeod
Minister.
In addition to the Certificates given to Samuel McDugald and his oldest son
Archd - I have only to observe that the younger branches......"
