W.W. Stewart enlisted in Company I, 18th Regiment of the Alabama Infantry on 19 AUG 1861 in Harpersville Alabama under Major Peter Forney Hunley. He was admitted, as a confederate prisoner (rebel), to the 2 Division Hospital in Jonesboro GA, on 31 AUG 1864, with a bullet wound which fractured his parietal bones. His wound was dressed "5 hours after injury." He remained there until 1 SEP 1864, when he died. The remarks state that he was "Left at Jonesboro GA." His first name is listed as Wallace. This unit fought at Shiloh, Chickamauga, Atlanta, and Jonesboro.
