Mattie Hatcher McEachern

Mrs. Mattie Hatcher McEachern, 92, of Vaiden, died of a heart attack Monday, June 19, 1995 at the Winona Manor Nursing Home. She was a homemaker, the daughter of the late John and Anna Boone Hatcher and the widow of R.C (Bob) McEachern.

Mrs. McEachern was a member of Shongalo Presbyterian Church, a former school teacher, Sunday School teacher, and Women in the Church officer, former employee for Mr. and Mrs. V.F. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ellis Dry Goods Store and was the former secretary for Hopewell Cemetery Assn.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at Shongalo Presbyterian Church in Vaiden with the Rev. Dr. Morris Taylor officiating. Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery in Vaiden.

Survivors are two daughters, Helen Claire Elliott of Vaiden, Eloise Turbeville of Jackson; one son, Bob McEachern of Cleveland; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were William Melton, John B. Hooker, Lamar Hooker, John Turbeville, William Hatcher, David Turbeville and Dr. Robert McEachern III.

Honorary pallbearers were officers of the Shongalo and Blackmonton Churches.

Lee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
