My husband and our father, Bernhard B. Wiens, was born to Henrich H. and Aganetha Wiens, Dec. 21, 1891, near Inman, Kansas in McPherson Co., and departed this life June 6, 1968 in the Merced General Hospital, Merced, Calif., at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 16 days. Death was caused by heart complications, one week after surgery.
Father received his education at Inman, Kansas, where he also grew to manhood. On March 24, 1916, he with his parents moved to Montezuma, Kansas where they established their home.
At the age of 23 years, on Dec. 27, 1914, he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour, was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
May 13, 1917, he was united in marriage to Hannah Smith, sharing life together for about 11 years. On Mar. 25, 1928, Mother was unexpectedly taken from his side, leaving him with 6 young children to care for.
On Jan. 14, 1929, he was united in marriage to me, Adiena Koehn, sharing life's joys and sorrows for over 39 years.
Father was engaged in farming in Kansas until 1937, when he and Mother with their family moved to Winton, Calif. In 1943 he and Mother moved back to Montezuma, and in 1955 they returned to Winton, where he resided until death.
He was a lover of people, always ready to lend a helping hand. His friendly disposition won him many friends wherever he went.
Father's pathway was often difficult with many trials and afflictions, but thanks be to God who has given him the victory through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He has left us an assurance that all is well.
He leaves to mourn his departure: me, his sorrowing wife Adiena; 3 sons and 3 daughters: John and wife Eva of Atwater, Calif.; Mildred and husband Raymond Eason of Winton, Calif.; Elizabeth and husband Leslie Foster of Atwater, Calif.; and Evelyn and husband Gail Wigley of Merced, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Jacob B. Wiens of Montezuma, Kansas and Peter B. Wiens of Meade, Kansas; 3 sisters, Marie (Mrs. P. D. Toews) and Agnes (Mrs. J. E. Friesen) of Livingston, Calif., and Anna (Mrs. H. D. Toews) of Montezuma, Kansas, and a host of relatives and friends.

Before our eyes, Dad slowly faded,
Getting weaker day by day;
Till God in His heavenly wisdom,
Called him peacefully away.

His sickness, pain, and misery,
Was often hard to bear;
But in an instant, often
God heard and answered prayer.

In our thoughts, fond memories linger,
But, we know 'tis vain to weep,
Tears and love can never wake him,
From his quiet and peaceful sleep.

And though here our work's not finished,
We know God hears our prayers.
Someday, just around the corner,
We will find our loved one there.
