~~Norman H. Washburn and Miss Mary Chaussee were united in marriage at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alec Chaussee Tuesday evening. A large company of friends of the bride and groom attended the ceremony, after which a pleasant evening was spent in dancing.

**N. WASHBURN FUNERAL TO BE HELD FRIDAY**
~~Furneral services for Norman Henry Washburn, 79, a lifetime resident of Clay county, who passed away in Meckling Tuesday at the home of his son Oliver, will be held at the Lutheran church in Meckling Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Oliver Wigdahl officiating. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral, and burial will be in Bluff View cemetery under the direction of the Francis H. Grosse funeral home. IOOF will conduct graveside services.
~~Norman Washburn was born in Clay county May 5, 1879. He was educated in the Vermillion public schools and attended the log cabin school. He married Mary C. Chaussee in Vermillion on Feb. 14, 1899. She preceded him in death in December 1947.
~~He was a farmer, breeder of registered livestock and a cattle feeder. He was a member of the Lutheran church in Meckling and of the IOOF in Vermillion.
~~He is survived by one son, Oliver, of Meckling.
~~Honorary casket bearers will be Jake Dutcher, Fred Sealey, R. J. Kain, Bub Huntington, Alexis Anderson, Rube Haag. Active casket bearers will be Lee Stevenson, Charles Denison, Fred Schafstall, Homer Correll, Martin Jorgenson, Frank Holmes.
