Alma Frances Bain Morton, daughter of Mattie Disspayne Bain and Alvin Tennessee Bain of Maryville and beloved heart and wife of the late Louis O. Morton, Sr. of Gatlinburg, a virtuous woman whose price is far above rubies, on the 29th day of January in her 80th year, went to be our Lord. "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." Proverbs 31:29.

Mrs. Morton, of LeConte Towers, a long-time area businesswoman in Gatlinburg, owned Morton's Antiques with her late husband, and sponsored antique shows in Gatlinburg, Nashville, Jackson, Huntsville and Atlanta for decades prior to retirement in the early 90's. Mrs. Morton was a member of First Baptist Church in Gatlinburg, the Garden Club and Senior Citizens. Mrs. Morton, in her youth, was active in women's church activities at the First Christian Church, Victory Baptist and Monta Vista Baptist Church in Maryville and taught Children's Sunday school for many years. She was especially proud and privileged to have taught her sons.

Mrs. Morton is preceded in death by her husband, Louis O. Morton, Sr.; her parents; brothers, Tom Disspayne of Michigan, Elmer Disspayne, Roy Disspayne and Colonel Disspayne of Nashville and Colonel Ed Disspayne of Texas; sisters, Willie Mae Yaklin of Michigan and Dorothy Crabtree of California; son-in-law, Donald L. Ward of Gatlinburg; two-great-granddaughters Angel Hope Morton and Christian Faith Norton of Gatlinburg.

She is survived by: daughters and son-in-law, Joan Morton Ward, Linda Morton Norton and Tom Norton, Sr; and Kay Morton; sons and daughters-in-law, Louis O. Morton, Jr. and Brigette Maples Morton and Dan F. Morton, Natalie Morton, Carol Ingram Morton and Gary Hunt; grandchildren, Don and Kathy Ward, Teresa Ward Ogle and Dennis Ogle, Jeff Ward, Greg and Diane Ward, Tommy Norton, Jr., Nikke Norton Johnston and Brent Johnston, Carrie Hunt Ball and Robert Ball, Tiffany Morton White and Robert White, Holly Morton Husband and Phil Husband, Samantha Morton Pirskowski and Dr. Michael Pirskowski, Oliver Morton and Victoria Morton, Seth and Melissa Ballew, Hans and Tracy Ballew, Joseph Ballew, and Tracy Helms Morton Starker; great-grandchildren, Cory and Dirk Phinizy, January and Jim Beeler, Christy and Joe Korn, Crystal, Lauren and Sara Ward, Heather, Brittney and Mallory Ward, T.J. Norton III, Hunter and Denver Johnston, Holden, Parker and Nicholas Norton, Briana McCarter Norton and Kevin Lightfield, Caleb Bremer and Chesney Ball, Jacob Starker; great-great-grandchildren, Logan, Cameron and Tanner Phinizy, Seth, Stefen, Sydney and Kirkus Beeler, Matthew, Tara and Amanda Pirskowski, Robbie and Rory White, Phillip Husband, III, Alexandra Grace Lightfield and Elijah Ballew; sisters and brother-in-law: Evelyn and Gene Lawson of Gatlinburg, Bernice Floyd of Kansas; brothers, Walter, Alvin, Jr., Alton, Keith and Tippy Bain of Maryville; Mrs. Morton adored her Nashville, North Carolina and Michigan nieces and nephews and cherished her favorite nephew, Colonel Robert Yaklin of Michigan; Mrs. Morton enjoyed her cousin, Maureen Manning of Maryville as well as her husband's family who live in Maryville and Sweetwater; and special friends, Vanessa Sica, Jennifer Stults, Charlie Hodge, Robbie Pickle, Cindy Black and Debbie Miekley.

A celebration service of Mrs. Morton's life will be held 6 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Gatlinburg under the direction of the Reverend Larry S. Burcham, the Reverend W.W. Cope and the Reverend Jim Beeler. Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Montgomery, Jerry Hayes, Homer Myers, Bud Lawson, Charles Ray Huskey and Colonel Robert Yaklin. Grandsons Donald, Jeff and Greg Ward, Tommy J. Norton, Jr., Oliver Morton, Phil Husband, Robert White, T.J. Norton, III, Brent Johnston, Hunter Johnston and Denver Johnston will serve as pallbearers.

Interment 12 Noon Saturday in Grandview Cemetery in Maryville. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. The Morton family wishes to thank Mrs. Morton's many friends and associates for their devoted friendship, love, kindness and graciousness extended to their lovely mother over all her years.
