McCOMB - Emmett E. Shoemaker, Jr., 78, of McComb, died at 12:46 p.m. Thursday at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
He was born Oct. 30, 1915, in McComb, to Emmett E. and Emma (Bond) Shoemaker Sr. He married F. Marcella Byal on Sept. 12, 1943, and she died June 16, 1984.

Surviving are two sons, Richard D. and Thomas L., both of McComb; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Burdelle Haveraneck and Mabel LaWarre, both of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Burdette.

Mr. Shoemaker retired in 1980 from Marathon Oil Co., where he worked in maintenance. He was a former McComb Village Clerk. He was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Mulford-Butler Post 511, McComb.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Young officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
