Burdette (Shoey) Shoemaker, 51, McComb, owner of Shoey's Sohio service station, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 11:30 a.m. Monday in his station.

The son of Emmett and Emma Jane (Bond) Shoemaker, he was born Nov. 9, 1918, in McComb and had been a lifelong resident of that town. He married Alice Bibler on Oct. 21, 1950, and she survives together with a daughter and son, Jane and Bruce, both at home.

Also surviving are a brother, Elton, McComb; a twin sister, Mrs. Marcus (Burdelle) Haveraneck, and another sister, Mrs. Don (Mabel) LaWarre, both of Findlay.

An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the McComb American Legion and VFW Posts, and of the McComb United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hartley Funeral Home, McComb, with the Rev. Robert Hayes and the Rev. C.E. Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted.

Friends may call the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
