Daughter of John William Mouser and Hannah Landis. Her father had moved the family from Ohio to settle in Isabella County in 1857, but joined the 8th Michigan Infantry in 1862. Her mother was left alone in the wilderness with three young children. It appears she may have gone back to Ohio, where they still had family, since Mary Lillus Mouser was born there. She married Joseph Wayne Kinsel in North Star in 1880. They were the parents of five children: Ida Mae, William Henry, Lulu Z., John Mouser, and Olon Joseph Kinsel.
