A Fatal Fall

Ithaca, May 22 – At 7:30 A.M., Joseph C. Burritt, aged 72, the leading jeweler of this city and such for half a century, was pruning a tree on his lawn. He was upon a ladder twelve feet from the ground. A limb gave way and he fell, striking upon his right temple, and at noon was dead. He was the only surviving son and administrator of the Patriarch Joseph Burritt, whose death at 94 was so widely heralded by the press in March last. He was prominent in church matters and a director of the Ithaca Savings Bank. He leaves a large estate. A widow and four children survive him. He was a native and lifelong resident of this city.
