Below in given an obituary of Mrs. J. W. Shuck, mother of Dana Shuck, who died at her home near Ionia, on January 26, 1913, aged 59 years, after a lingering illness of more than a year with diabetes:

Flora Ella Timmerman was born October 14, 1853, in Henry county, Illinois, and moved to Richardson county, Nebraska, at the age of 15 years. She was married to John W. Shuck, July 10, 1870, in Nemaha county, Nebraska. To this union six children were born, all of whom are living.

She moved to Ionia, Kans., December 31, 1901, and has since resided on a farm two miles from that place.

She was converted in early life and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Ionia, February 25, 1900,

She was a patient sufferer, never complaining, and always had a kind word and, a smile for those around her.

She leaves to mourn her loss her sorrowing husband, three sons and three daughters all of this county, two sisters, six brothers, seven grandchildren and a large circle of friends.

The funeral was held from the house, January 27, at 2 o’clock. Rev. Oscar Gessel, her pastor, preached the sermon, assisted in the service by Rev. L. S. Beecher of the U. B. church. A very large company of relatives and friends gathered to pay respect to her memory. Interment was made in the Ionia cemetery.

I know her living yet,
And when in God’s time I pass on
To the good land where she has gone
She’ll meet me at the portal bright,
She’ll lead to Him who is the light
Of the King's City—ever mine
She'll walk with me the ways divine
Where she is living yet.
And ever near us though unseen
The dear immortal spirits tread.
For all the boundless universe
Is life; there are no dead.
