She helped on the farm with the chores and was educated in the little one-room school house in Mt. Sterling. She was a talented musician, playing the organ for many years. Her married life was spent on the farm with much hard work and rearing her family. She was married 19 Dec 1900 in the Logan Temple to Robert Wardrop Garrett.

After the death of her husband, Mary Ann moved to Wellsville to live with her mother, also a widow. From here the two ladies moved to Logan. They were members of the Logan Seventh Ward. After the death of her mother, Mary Ann moved to Hayward, Calif. to live with her daughter, Katherine Henrietta. Here she spent the last two years of her life.

On the 16 Oct 1950, she died of a cerebral hemorrhage and was buried in the Wellsville Cemetery. She was an active member of the Mt. Sterling, Wellsville, and Logan Seventh Wards of the LDS church. She also did genealogical research and temple work.
