Nancy Isabelle Whitten Newkirk, 91, of Shenandoah, died Saturday, October 2, 2005, at the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Monday, October 3, 2005, at the Guedry Cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be held from 9 Am to noon, Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Nancy was born November 5, 1913 in Navasota, was a former resident of Alice and The Woodlands for 10 years, and has resided in the Shenandoah area for the past two years. She was a homemaker, graduate of the Saratoga High School class of 1929, member of the Order of Eastern Star in Alice, Past President of the Texas Medical Auxiliary, and former Boy Scout Den Mother. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, was an accomplished pianist, and loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Newkirk was preceded in death by her father: Jessie Scott Whitten, mother: Emma Cecilia Robertson Whitten, husband: William ‘Dr. Bill' Newkirk, sons: Scott and Bill Flowers, and granddaughters: Brenda Flowers Nixon and Rebecca Flowers Duncan. She is survived by her son: Aubrey J. Flowers and wife Barbara of Boerne, daughter: Susan Wallis and husband Jim of The Woodlands, grandchildren: James Flowers, Patricia Matthews, Shannon Edwards, Michael Flowers, Scott Flowers, Beau Flowers, Taylor Wallis, Todd Keuper, Jeff Keuper, and Travis Keuper, great-grandchildren: Courtney Shannon, Ryan Edwards, Michael Edwards, Jake Edwards, Griffin Matthews, Mimi Matthews, Marie Duncan, Brendan Nixon, Scott Nixon, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
