Suffering a fractured skull when he fell last Friday, Darlie Douthit, widely known former resident of this city, died at the Cincinnati general hospital Monday night, Dec 7, 1936. He received the fatal injury in a fall at the home of his mother, Mrs. Laura Douthit, of 115 west Fourteenth street, with whom he lived.

Mr. Douthit had been employed in Cincinnati for the past two years. He was formerly employed at the Piatt Furniture store in this city.

He is survived by the mother; the widow, Mrs. Hazel Douthit, of this city; six children, Harold, Robert, John, Duane, Joanna and Rosamond; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Wiley, of Noble township and two brothers, Roy and Paul of Cincinnati.

Loren H. Murphy, local funeral director, was called to Cincinnati and returned to Shelbyville with the body. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Moscow Christian church in charge of the Rev Amos L. Bastin.

Burial was in the Moscow cemetery. Friends called at any time after five o'clock on Wednesday at the Loren H. Murphy funeral home.

He was married to Ella R. Thomas (August 08, 1884IN to ?) on November 02, 1908, Marion County, Indiana. This union resulted in one son, Lemuel F. Douthit (February 03, 1912 to November 15, 1996 East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois) Marriage ended in divorce.
