Arnold Steffey, 72, of Chilton, Texas, passed away at his residence Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, with Pastor Sam Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., in Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home.

Arnold was born in Coleman, Texas, to the late Arthur Leonard and Annie Kelly Steffey. He attended schools in Coleman and then served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as a fire fighter. He retired from Southwest Gas Company and has since worked for the Texas Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alyce Steffey; two brothers; and two sisters.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Lauralee Steffey, of Chilton; daughter, Brenda Avila; and son, Tony Steffey, both of Florida; three sisters; two brothers; and a large extended family.
