Green Burgess was born in Buckham County, NC on August 25, 1830. He departed this life at his son's, Samuel Burgess, near Maitland, MO on July 31, 1922, aged 91 years 11 months and 6 days of age.
He was united in marriage to Louisa Murry and to this union was born fourteen children, six of whom are living. He leaves to mourn his living five sons, Samuel of Maitland, George of Graham, Thomas F. of Fillmore, Winn of McCook Neb., Amos G., and one daughter, Mary C Tibbets of Ellsinore, MO., besides thirty-seven grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren, and many relatives and a host of friends.
He was a loving father, a good neighbor and a faithful friend.
He was converted early in life and was a member of the Methodist church.
Green Burgess was a veteran of the Civil war, having served from the date of April 6, 1861 until August 2, 1865.
