Death's Cruel Work
Mrs. Addie Piper died Friday morning, Dec. 20, at her home one mile south of Augusta, influenza being the cause.
Deceased was 52 years old, and the mother of seven children, Hallie Piper of Climax, Harland Piper of Ross, Mrs. Lula Truby of Yorkville, Mrs. Bessie Smith of Kalamazoo, a little son Clyde 9 years old, and Lloyd and Henry who have gone before. Besides these she is survived by a husband, fifteen grandchildren, a brother and three sisters.
The untimely death was a shock to the entire community, for she had lived here since childhood. She was known to be a faithful companion and loving mother, and her home was made blessed by her true Christian spirit. The funeral was held at the late home on Sunday morning at 10 o’clock. Rev. Badder of Hickory spoke words of comfort, and Abbie Wedge sang “Our Better Home Beyond" and “Angels Are Waiting Our Coming."
Interment was made in the Augusta cemetery.
