Rites Saturday for Ellen Ord
A funeral Mass was held from St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church at 10AM Saturday for Miss Ellen Frances Ord, 77, who died at her home here at 6712 Estrella about 3:30PM December 16.
Miss Ord was a native Californian and the great-granddaughter of General Edward O. Ord, Civil War general for whom Fort Ord was named.
For many years Miss Ord was a teacher at the California School for the Blind at Berkeley. She moved to Riverside County about 12 years ago. Miss Ord was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Palm Springs-Desert Division.
Surviving is her sister, Miss Mary N. Ord of Desert Hot Springs.
Officiating at the services Saturday was the Rev. Herbert J. Cook, Pastor at St. Elizabeth's. Burial followed at Paradise Catholic Cemetery at Paradise on Monday at 1PM. Desert Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
