Hollidaysburg Register, 30 August 1871:
"ELLIOTT - On the 26th inst., in this place, Mr. George Elliott, in the 85th year of his age. The deceased was one of our oldest and most respected citizens, having been a resident of this neighborhood for about seventy years. He was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church and his remains were followed by a large concourse of relatives, on Monday last, to the old burying ground on the property of Judge Irwine. Peace to his memory."
