Mrs. Clara Root Slimmer was born in Herkimer County, NY in 1858. She came to Clarksville with her parents in 1864. On November 15, 1877 she was married to Louis Slimmer. Mrs. Slimmer passed away at their home in Chicago on Thursday, January 31, 1918. Surviving are her husband, Louis, and son, Ruluff, both of Chicago; one brother, Milton Root of Elsinore, California and one sister Mrs. Lida Ladd of Washington, D. C. The family arrived to attend services on Sunday morning at the family mausoleum at Lynwood Cemetery except for Mrs. Slimmer's son and her sister who were seriously ill and unable to attend.
