Maurine was born in Levita, Texas, to the late Hill Murry and Lily Coleman Murry, the third of seven children. She completed school through the eighth grade in Levita and went on to graduate high school in Ireland, Texas. She was a faithful member of the Levita Baptist Church for over 80 years. Maurine worked on the W.P.A. program in the cannery at Gatesville, and later as a waitress at Meeks Café during her younger years. On Dec. 26, 1938, she married "Si" Vernon James Adams of Purmela. They made their home in Levita. Maurine was a housewife, worked on the farm and also operated the switchboard for the Levita area. Later she worked at the sewing factory and also worked for the dietary department at Coryell Memorial Hospital for 24 years. She retired at the age of 77, and resided in the Gatesville area until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Si Adams; sister, Ruby Rogers; and brothers, Bill, Talbert, and Bobby "Sonny" Murry.
Survivors include sisters, Reva Whisenhunt, of Mesquite, and Robbie "Sissie" Cox, of Pecos; and numerous nieces and nephews.
