A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Oakville, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, August 29, 1864. Was mustered into federal service at Harrisburg on September 3 as a private with Co. F, 207th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 31, 1865.
At the time of his enlistment, he was a farmer by trade and stood 5' 7" tall with red hair and blue eyes.

His Captain was Martin G. Hale

Harry married Kate Coover in 1869 in Cass Co, MO.
Settled in Yoder, Reno Co., KS.
Was a mail carrier, a farmer, and a teacher in Castleton, KS, rural school.
Parents of 4 children:George, Ralph, Paul and Faerie
