He married first Catherine Mintzer in 1846. She died in 1847. They had one daughter Catherine Elizabeth who was raised by her grandparents, Rachel and George. Daniel married second Mary Polly Erb in 1848 in Ashland County Ohio. They had: Dimus, Mary Jane, Lucinda, Loma (perhaps Salome after Mary's Mother), Rachel, Willie and Nancy. Their last child was a boy, Abe. Two other children are mentioned on Daniel's headstone, Loma (Saloma) and Willie. Headstone is hard to read.
