HARTLAND -- Mabel Irene Campbell, 85, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Washburn on April 24, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Miles and Elizabeth (Drost) Corey. She received her education in a one-room schoolhouse and grew up in Washburn.

She married Harry E. Campbell on Sept. 22, 1940, and together they raised their 13 children. She was employed for several years by Baxter Canning Co., both in Corinna and Hartland, and she worked for Northeast Shoe in Pittsfield for more than 30 years.

She is survived by 11 children, Mary Downs and her husband, Jack, of Ocala, Fla., Eldon Campbell and his wife, Jeannie, of Hartland, Joanne Meagher of Palmyra, Linda Carron and her husband, Louis, of Pittsfield, Betty Gagne and her husband, Arthur, of Canaan, the Rev. Clyde (Peter) Campbell and his wife, Karan, of Canaan, EllaMae Pollard and her husband, Ronald, of Winter Haven, Fla., Duane Campbell and his wife, Lola, of Columbus, Ohio, Ronnie Campbell and his wife, Paulette, of Boydton, Va., Carolyn Lary and her husband, William, of Harmony, and Katherine Goldrup and her husband, David, of Opleika, Ala.; a sister, Hazel Gardiner of Mapleton; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bellmain of Caribou; 36 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Campbell; two sons, Bobby Campbell and Ricky Corey; four grandchildren, Betty-Jo Gagne, Duane Campbell Jr., Christopher Campbell, and Yvonne Porter; and eight siblings.

A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Church of Faith, corner of East Ridge Road and U.S. Route 2 in Skowhegan, with the Rev. Clyde (Peter) Campbell officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152 in Hartland. (Morning Sentinel 9/1/2009)
