Corp. Evans was killed in action on 8-26-1951 while serving with the 32nd Infantry Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division in North Korea. Corp. Evans was wounded seriously in South Korea on 1-14-1951, and was returned to duty on 3-5-1951.

He is the son of Mr. Philip J. & Mrs. Daisy M. {Weaver} Evans of Peoria, Illinois, and is a 1950 graduate of Manual Training H.S. in Peoria, and he enlisted in the Army on July 18, 1950. Since his mother remarried, a Mr. Vern Warren, and also leaves one sister, Miss Phyllis Evans of Peoria.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantry Badge, and Korean Service Medal with One Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
